Discover a Creative Way to Enjoy Sashiko

Japanese Visible Mending with Sashiko Workshop

Explore canoha’s approach to Visible Mending, inspired by traditional Japanese sashiko.
In this workshop, you’ll create a handmade coaster while learning decorative repair techniques that can later be adapted to clothing, bags, denim, and many other textile projects.
Rather than focusing on repairing damaged clothing, this workshop is about discovering the joy of stitching, creativity, and giving fabric a new story.
No previous sewing experience is required.

A Contemporary Way to Enjoy Sashiko

Inspired by Tradition, Designed for Today

For generations, sashiko was used in Japan to strengthen fabric and extend the life of clothing.
Today, many people around the world enjoy Visible Mending, a creative way of celebrating repairs rather than hiding them.

This workshop is canoha’s own interpretation of Visible Mending.
Drawing inspiration from traditional sashiko techniques, we’ve developed an approachable way to enjoy decorative repair while learning practical stitching skills that you can continue using in your everyday life.

Learn Through Making

Begin with a Small Project

Rather than repairing clothing during the workshop, you’ll create a coaster using one of several decorative repair techniques prepared by canoha.
This small project allows you to focus on understanding the stitching itself before applying the ideas to your own projects at home.
Afterwards, you may enjoy adapting these techniques to Creative textile art, Clothing, Jeans, Bags, Fabric, Accessories, Patchwork and so on.
